# Accessibility statement

Last updated: November 2, 2026

**On this page**

Cited is built and operated by Digital Domination LLC, a Minnesota company. We want everyone who runs a business to be able to use Cited, whatever assistive technology they rely on. This page says what that means in practice: the standard we measure against, what we have checked, what we know still falls short, and how to reach us when something gets in your way.

## Our commitment and the standard we use

Digital Domination LLC is a business open to the public, and the Americans with Disabilities Act applies to what we offer, this website included. The ADA sets no technical standard for websites, so we use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard the U.S. Department of Justice points to, as our benchmark. That is also the level the European standard EN 301 549 requires, so one assessment serves our customers on both sides of the Atlantic.

This statement covers joincited.ai in English and German and the core of the application at app.joincited.ai: creating an account, signing in with a two-factor code, the dashboard, reports, settings, and exports. It does not cover agency portals that run on an agency’s own domain, the emails we send, or our internal admin tools.

## Conformance status

Cited partially conforms with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conforms means that most of the content meets the standard and some does not; the exceptions are listed under known limitations below. This is what our November 2026 assessment found on the pages themselves:

- Text contrast is at least 4.5:1 and controls are at least 3:1 in both the dark and the light theme. You can pick the theme in the user menu or let Cited follow your system setting.
- Every feature works with a keyboard alone. Focus is always visible, a skip link takes you straight to the content, and menus, dialogs and the phone navigation close with Escape and hand focus back to where you were.
- Images carry text alternatives. The visibility chart has a description for screen readers and a data table you can expand instead. Headings, tables and form fields are properly marked up; required fields and error messages are announced as text, not just color.
- Pages reflow down to 320 pixels wide with no horizontal scrolling, and they hold up at 200 % zoom and with wider text spacing.
- Nothing autoplays. Animations follow your reduced-motion setting, and the decorative ones stop on their own within five seconds.
- The public pages, sign-in, forms and the app’s navigation work with JavaScript turned off.
- PDF exports (your action plan and reports) are tagged, with headings, lists and a language setting, so a screen reader can navigate them.

## Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, some parts of Cited are not fully accessible yet. Where we know a workaround, it is listed here.

**Third-party services.** The Cloudflare Turnstile bot check on the sign-in, sign-up and free-scan forms, Stripe’s hosted checkout page, and Google sign-in are provided by those companies, and we cannot change how they behave. The Turnstile widget, for example, does not show keyboard focus, and on screens narrower than 350 pixels it spills past the form. If any of them stops you, email us and we will set up your account or finish your order with you by email.

**Small charts.** The sparklines and bar meters in the competitor overview have no text alternative of their own. The numbers they illustrate are printed right next to them, so nothing is lost, but a screen reader will not describe the shape of the trend.

**Truncated names.** With text spacing set well above the default, long site names in the site switcher get cut off with an ellipsis.

**Screen readers.** We tested with a keyboard and with automated tools; we have not yet run a full session with VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS. If you use one and something does not read right, we would like to hear about it.

## How we assessed Cited

We did the assessment ourselves in November 2026 with automated checks (Lighthouse and axe on every public page and on the main screens of the app, in both themes and at phone and desktop widths) and manual checks: keyboard walkthroughs of menus, dialogs, forms and the sign-in flow, visible-focus and contrast measurements, reflow and text-spacing tests, and an inspection of the exported PDFs. This statement was published on November 2, 2026. We review it once a year and whenever Cited changes substantially.

## Tell us about a barrier

If you hit a barrier on Cited, or you need any of our content in a different format, we want to know. Email [hey@joincited.ai](mailto:hey@joincited.ai?subject=Accessibility) with the subject “Accessibility” or use the [contact form](https://joincited.ai/contact), and tell us which page you were on and what assistive technology you use, if any. We reply within one month, usually much sooner.
